BIOINFORMATICS RESEARCH
[Ongoing Research Projects]

This is an old page, but may still be relevant. I have drifted away from bioinformatics to an all inclusive Informatics. So if you are looking for ideas or if you want to start an online collaborative project, follow my informatics blog and shoot me an email to

GROUP RESEARCH APPLICATIONS.
I have designed three web applications for exchange of ideas and resources.

  • A bulletin board for bioinformatics where you can post a sequence along with a message and annotate a particular region.

  • An application to manage online resources for bioinformatics. You can add your links and invite others to see your links. You can maintain a list of your favorite links. There is a comprehensive search facility too. Once you login, you will see a link which can be dragged and dropped to your browsers toolbar which will add a link in your favorites menu. A resource can be added to this application just by selecting the 'Post to Gulfdoctor.' link from your favourites menu. The database already contains more than 500 links. Please use the login window on the right side. New Users Register Here .

  • An application to discuss a particular topic in bioinformatics. You can invite others to view your discussion and opine. You can also post related sequences and do blast search directly from the site. This will be useful in initiating a discussion (Public or private) about your research topic with others. Please use the login window on the right side. New Users Register Here

  • An Intelligent Interface for sequence analysis (IISA) for clinicians with PERL based data retrieval modules and Prolog based analysis module. This is an ongoing project hosted by Sourceforge.net. The web interface is here.

As a Dermatologist and Bioinformatician, I try to investigate molecular pathogenesis of various dermatological conditions using bioinformatics tools. I have few publications and active research topics which MSc students can pursue as a project for which I am happy to be a guide. For resource management and online communications I use the BioCore application of  "Theoretical and computational biophysics group" and www.freepository.com for code maintenance. My detailed resume and statement of research interest are available, if you need to take consent from your university. I have very little expertise in algorithmic bioinformatics and molecular modelling.

If you want to join any of the topics listed here for which my name (Bell Eapen) is the first in the list of investigators, mail me ( webmaster@gulfdoctor.net ) with the serial number, title, your educational background, affiliated institution and a short description of your interests and expertise in bioinformatics. If you are invited, follow these instructions to join the group.

You are requested to join the clinbio googlegroups and go through my bio blog for more information.
