Pigmented villonodular synovitis (PVNS)/tenosynovial giant cell tumor (TGCT) is a benign, proliferative lesion of the synovium, the bursa, and the tendon sheath. Little is known about the burden of illness in patients with tenosynovial giant cell tumors (TGCT), which are rare, typically benign, lesions of the synovial tissue including giant cell tumor of the tendon sheath (GCT-TS) and pigmented villonodular synovitis (PVNS). Cytology of giant cell tumour of tendon sheath (GCTTS) is often sufficient to diagnose this lesion and has been previously described in small series. The giant cell tumour of the tendon sheath (GCTTS) is the second most common soft tissue benign tumour and rarely presents in the knee.
